What to expect during your first voice lesson

• Meet and Greet with Your Teacher: Your lesson begins with a friendly introduction where your teacher will ask about your vocal experience, musical interests, and goals. This helps us tailor the lesson to your needs.
• Initial Vocal Assessment: Through a series of vocalizations, your teacher will determine your vocal range and identify your voice type—whether you’re an alto, baritone, soprano, tenor, or bass.
• Warm-ups, Exercises, and Technique Building: In this part of the lesson, you’ll work on hitting notes accurately, vocalizing vowels clearly, and breathing properly. These exercises are designed to strengthen your voice and expand your vocal abilities.
• Song Practice: Bring in your favorite songs, and your teacher will help you sing them with confidence. Additionally, we’ll introduce you to new songs to broaden your musical horizons and challenge your skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never sung before - is that okay?

Totally fine! We have voice lesson programs specifically designed for complete beginners, as well as intermediate, and advanced level teachers. Just let us know your experience level and we will get you set up in the correct program. 

Do you help prepare for auditions or open mics?

Yes, whether you want to just sing at home or do karaoke, open mics, choirs or gigs. We can help you find your voice, coach stage presence, and help with song selection.

Can I record my sessions?

Yep! All lessons can be recorded for retention and self-review.

Do lessons include breathing or warm-ups? Songs?

Absolutely - every lesson starts with a warm up to help you back into your best singing voice, refine technique, and build your skills. Following the warmup we will switch to working on songs and repertoire.
